How to Land a Freelance Writing Job

So, you want to become a Freelance Writer? Making the decision is not that difficult. There are a lot of good reasons why you would want to be a Freelance Writer. You can do what you love, in your own time and you can do it from home. What’s more is that people will pay you to write for them, or you can even start your own Blog and make money from that.

If you are already a writer and you are good at it, go for it. What you however must not lose sight of is the fact that there are thousands of other writers out there already marketing themselves. The secret therefore is to make yourself and your skills stand out from the rest. Get some training and read a lot of the Blogs of other writers. Read, read, and read some more and you will not only broaden your horizons, but also improve your grammar, spelling and all the other skills you need as a writer.

If you’re a good writer, but you don’t exactly know how to do content marketing or copywriting, do some courses. Starting out with my own career as a Freelancer, I new I could write, because I wrote a novel which got published, but I knew absolutely nothing, zero, nada, about content writing and copywriting. I followed the advice of fellow writers and took some courses on Blogging, Content Writing and Copywriting.

I was lucky to find an online learning and teaching marketplace where I could learn about these subjects. Udemy has over 65 000 courses and millions of students around the world. Once you complete their courses you also get a lifetime access to the teaching material and a Certificate to prove that you have successfully completed the Course. I completed several courses, but the best one for newbie Freelance Copywriters is “Copywriting – Become a Freelance Copywriter, your own boss”. It’s a two-part course which teaches you to build a successful freelance copywriting business and to turn your basic writing skills into a paycheck.

Once you have completed this course, or any other relevant course, you will know what is required of a Freelance Copywriter. In the next post I will be sharing some websites where you can register yourself as a Freelance Writer and start promoting yourself and your skills. Keep tuned.

If you have any specific questions about Freelance Writing, please comment below and let me know what they are, so I can cover the questions in my next posts about the subject. In the mean time check out these courses for yourself and get yourself up to speed on the subject of Freelance Writing.
